AI for Good|Yunling supports youth to challenge 2027 ESSC, bringing technology into the service site
AI can write articles and make presentations.
But can it help us do something meaningful to society?
The 2027 English Social Solutions Contest (ESSC) organized by Rotary Club of Taipei (Rotary Club of Taipei), with the theme of "AI for Good", invites students to propose solutions to problems using artificial intelligence based on real social needs.
Elderly care, mental health, fraud prevention, educational innovation, and disaster response can all be the starting point for thinking. The competition not only looks at creativity, but also focuses on the understanding of the problem, whether the plan can be implemented, and how to measure the actual impact; privacy, security and fairness when using AI are also part of the selection.
This is not just "what can be done", but also "who can it help, and how do you know it is really helpful".
This direction also meets the goal that Rotary Club of Yunlin Yunling is working towards.
We decided to support three team members studying at National Taiwan University and National Yunlin University of Science and Technology to form a team to challenge this competition. Yunling Club will provide social and public welfare service sites, experience and consultant support, allowing young people’s ideas to have the opportunity to enter the field and be tested according to actual needs.
We are building a Rotary Club that makes good use of AI
We hope that technology will make it easier to obtain service information, prevent accumulated experience from being lost due to personnel handover, and make it easier for partners in different professions to continue working.
Allow members of the community to spend less time reorganizing and spend more time understanding needs, linking resources, and investing in real services.
This is the direction we are exploring and implementing, and it is also the answer we hope to put forward in this competition.
Let’s start with a Rotary Club in Yunlin and gradually find a method that can be used by more public welfare organizations.
For young people, this is an opportunity to turn ideas into solutions; for Yunling, it is also a process of rethinking service methods. We hope that through the competition, from problem research, implementation to verification, we can see step by step: where AI can help, and what things still require human care and judgment.
